We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Addiction and Mental Health Counselor to join our growing team.
Role Summary: As an Addiction and Mental Health Counsellor, you will provide critical support to individuals experiencing substance use and mental health challenges. This includes offering one-on-one counseling, group facilitation, care planning, and case management. You will play a pivotal role in guiding clients toward recovery, building coping skills, and enhancing their overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate clients’ needs and develop personalized care plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling using evidence-based therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing).
- Support clients in addressing co-occurring substance use and mental health issues.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to promote peer support and skill-building.
- Coordinate with community partners such as healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Educate clients and families about addiction and mental health, fostering awareness and reducing stigma.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Advocate for clients and assist them in accessing community resources.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling). A master’s degree is an asset. Certification in addiction counseling or registration with a professional regulatory body (e.g., CCPC, OCSWSSW) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in addiction and/or mental health services.
- Proven expertise in individual and group therapy, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of trauma informed care is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic case management systems.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
